An investigation of the relationship of four components of creativity to locus of control

- Abstract
- The Unusual Uses subtest of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking and the Rotter Social Reaction Inventory were administered to a total population of 168 graduate students at a predominantly Black university. Internality-externality scores were used to assign students to internal or external groups. This grouping was the independent variable, while the 4 measures of creativity the Unusual Uses test yields – fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality – were the dependent variables. Internals and externals were compared on each of these 4 measures via t tests. Internals were found to have significantly higher scores on the flexibility and originality measures, while the externals had significantly higher elaboration scores. No significant differences were obtained between the internal and external groups for fluency
